Joyce Engineering, Inc. Opens an Office in South Carolina; Hires Ernie Heins, P.E.

Joyce Engineering, Inc. has opened an office in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, located just outside the city of Charleston. In addition, JEI has hired Ernie Heins, P.E to manage this office and to serve as Senior Project Consultant. He will provide expertise in design, permitting, operations, and construction for solid waste management facilities, and assist in a variety of solid waste engineering and environmental projects throughout Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Before joining Joyce Engineering, Inc., Mr. Heins was the Deputy Director of Solid Waste with the Berkeley County Water & Sanitation Authority in Berkeley County, South Carolina. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University and has over 15 years of experience in engineering and solid waste management.

Additionally, Mr. Heins is a registered, professional engineer in the states of South Carolina and Georgia.

JEI’s Richmond Office Welcomes a Couple of New Faces

Ethan Virts has joined Joyce Engineering, Inc.’s Richmond office as an Environmental Technician. He previously interned with JEI during the summer of 2003. He will provide expertise in groundwater sampling and gas monitoring for solid waste management facilities.

Prior to Joyce Engineering, Inc., Mr. Virts was a student at Virginia Tech where he earned a B.S. in environmental science.

Eric Wallin, M.S. has accepted a position with JEI as Project Geologist, and will join the Richmond environmental team on July 14th. While studying under a student of Allan Freeze at the University of Kentucky, Mr. Wallin earned his M.S. in Geology, with an emphasis in Hydrogeology. He has been published several times and brings along consulting and groundwater remediation systems experience. Additionally, Mr. Wallin served in the United States Army for eight rewarding years.

JEI is excited to welcome Mr. Wallin, along with his wife and their three children, to the Richmond area, as they relocate from Minnesota!
