Legislative Update!!!
According to the General Assembly web page, at this afternoon’s veto session, Senate Bill (SB) 592, which would impose a $5/ton surcharge on solid waste disposal at landfills, has been recommitted to the Senate Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources Committee. The Governor’s amendments that imposed the fee were deemed by the Senate to be "not specific and severable" (able to be acted upon individually), allowing the referral back to committee.
